THE STORY OF JTM Radio Funky
Our story parallels that of the person for whom JTM Radio Funky makes sense. We exist, thanks to the dream that he has always longed for and for which he has not stopped searching to be able to do radio, real radio. Since adolescence and led by his love of music, to play those vinyls that he was collecting with the savings from weekly payments, which not all, he got from his parents and aunts, especially "la titi" nickname of his sister father and aunt Isa his mother's sister and later by his own income that he invested in making a good collection of records, especially black music, funky and R&B.
So we go back to the 80s, when at the age of fourteen, Jorge Tendero Márquez was already playing at home to play records on a compact of the time with DUAL turntables and a cassette for BETTER tapes. With his friend Fernando, at the latter's house, they spent their idle hours playing radio, recording everything on cassette tapes. And those marathon Saturday or Sunday mornings in the living room of his aunt Sagrario's house "la titi" and where with a GRUNDIG C2600 AUTOMATIC cassette radio, he recorded and edited hundreds of meters of iron-plated tapes with the music that best suited him. He liked it and that he found on the now extinct Radio Vinyl station on 95.1 FM in Madrid and that he later played at home, locked in his room imitating those announcers who surely made his dream their job and that now was Jorge's dream. Those Carlos J Rubio, Anita Méndez, Jorge de Juan, and the legendary Kike Supermix among others. From the latter he was inspired to adopt what we call today AKA, or artistic name, to be professionally called Dj 'Jorge Yoba-Mix . The other main station, although in the background, was the one that today continues to be for many adolescents a meeting point with pop idols, LOS40 PRINCIPALES of the SER chain, at that time CADENA 40 Principales, more radio formula than now, but highlight the spaces of the greats such as Pepe Cañaveras, Joaquín Luqui, JA Abellán, Julián Ruiz, Fernandisco, Yolanda Valencia, Rosa Rosado, Ana Valeiras, etc.
Some years later, in the middle of the second decade of the 80s and throughout the 90s, he combines DJing at home as already doing sessions in small neighborhood venues in Madrid, when there were deejays who animated the afternoons and nights playing live in any cocktail bar, what times were those! But the first contact with some semi-professional turntables, the kind that have a pitch, was in the home office of a neighboring journalist and family friend, Juan José Delgado. Something that earned him his first steps at the age of 18 at the end of the year parties at the COPACABANA Party Hall, where his father was the drummer of the first orchestra, “Santi el drums” as everyone in the world knew him. profession. Well, there in Calle Almendrales number 13 in Madrid, in the Usera neighborhood, and at the controls of the cabin, a piece of the cabin of the time with double turntables, mixing table with 6 channels, tape recorder-player, and with the addition of two light-jockey control panels, Jorge made reality and gave free rein to his biggest hobby. And beware! all digital to use your fingers, since there are no laptops or desktops with music playback applications, or controllers like today, which facilitate and help a lot when producing live sessions.
Subsequently Yoba-Mix, works and collaborates as a resident in Madrid venues, of which we highlight Maldonado 55 "La Borda", "Chik Bianco" room that was a reference in Madrid nights of beautiful people and a funky music and disco atmosphere. the 80s and 90s, and in the cocktail bar "Chik" the smallest in size but the oldest of the Chik, until 2009. In the region of Murcia, and taking advantage of the summer holidays, he collaborates and plays in the local of his friend and colleague Dj 'AJ on “Idolo” Lo Pagan.
Already as JT Márquez, in 2016 and thanks to Darío Márquez, son of his cousin, he contacted and became part of the announcers of EDM Radio España, one of the incipient and best-positioned independent internet radio stations, culminating and fulfilling his dream of doing radio, where he directs, presents and performs as a technician an all in one, of his SUNSET HOUSE program, dedicated to the evolution of the most FUNKY and SOUL sounds in the world HOUSE MUSIC.
And until now, that at the end of 2017 he created and broadcast his own online station, JTM Radio Funky. This activity is combined with the holding of parties and specific events at the Disco-Bar "Brown Square" in Madrid.
